An absolutely lovely school with a warm, kind, welcoming community. We were looking for such a community when we toured schools since we found that so many schools in Marin have top-notch academics, but they don't always pay close attention to the social/emotional development of their young students. San Domenico purposely considers both. Our son feels challenged academically while feeling supported and valued. He is so engaged with the curriculum--way more than I was at his age. I wish I could go back to school. And the campus! Gorgeous and peaceful. It smells like redwood trees.

Our eldest daughter spent her first few years at what is arguably the best, and most funded, public elementary school in Marin. Alas, the school focused on the students who needed extra help and largely ignored the students who were excelling.
When you step foot on San Domenico’s picturesque campus, you realize within seconds that this school is a paradise for children. The exceptionally dedicated and impressive staff will meet your child at their academic level and challenge them without creating an environment of stress. Additionally, the ethos of the school demands that it addresses the whole child and creates emotionally intelligent students. This very thoughtful approach to education is laying the foundation for their future success as accomplished and purposeful human beings. There are two cherries on top: a comprehensive bus system and warm lunches served in a beautiful dining hall.
My children are both thriving at SD, receiving an excellent education, both inside and outside of the classroom. Every Student Matters at SD! The teachers are professionals who are deeply dedicated to academic excellence for every student K-12. In my experience, all 3 school levels hold very high academic standards that prepare students for the next grade level and ultimately for college. San Domenico work to define the metrics of achievement in progressive and innovative ways. My children learn HOW to learn and think critically. They also learn HOW to be brave and resilient risk-takers. The community is what distingushes San Domenico from other schools. It is, above all else, a community of diverse learners (students and families), but what truly brings the community together is that all members share the values of study, reflection, community and service--all values so needed as we prepare our children to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
