The SD MET as it is known is part of a worldwide network of schools known as Big Picture schools (bigpicture.org) where students are the drivers of their education.
The MET has been a haven in the cold bureaucracy SDUSD schools that my children attended. The MET is a small school with some of the most caring teachers that I have encountered. These teachers want their students to succeed and thrive!
You can read more about the daily schedules, internships and opportunities to take college classes on their website. There are no athletics but kids can CIF officially participate at their home school teams. I am leaving this review to say this is a special place for kids who want something more out of high school. A place for kids and parents who are willing to think outside the box of the typical large anonymous, AP-obsessed high school experience.

San Diego Met high school is an interesting school. For me, personally, I love it. It opened a world of opportunities for me. It has allowed me to make connections through my internships with my mentors to build professional relationships and let me explore what I really want to do as a career. It also offers free college classes and they pay for all of my books and because of this I have been earning credits, and building up my skills to put in my resumes so by the time that I am out of here, I am ready for the real world. Overall, this school is really supportive, and if you are truly independent and have a strive for education and life, then I'd highly suggest this school for you.
While there is great opportunites (internships and access to community college classes) students must be very self-driven in order to succeed. You have to advocate for yourself in order to get the most out of this school.
