The SD MET as it is known is part of a worldwide network of schools known as Big Picture schools (bigpicture.org) where students are the drivers of their education.

The MET has been a haven in the cold bureaucracy SDUSD schools that my children attended. The MET is a small school with some of the most caring teachers that I have encountered. These teachers want their students to succeed and thrive!

You can read more about the daily schedules, internships and opportunities to take college classes on their website. There are no athletics but kids can CIF officially participate at their home school teams. I am leaving this review to say this is a special place for kids who want something more out of high school. A place for kids and parents who are willing to think outside the box of the typical large anonymous, AP-obsessed high school experience.

San Diego Met high school is an interesting school. For me, personally, I love it. It opened a world of opportunities for me. It has allowed me to make connections through my internships with my mentors to build professional relationships and let me explore what I really want to do as a career. It also offers free college classes and they pay for all of my books and because of this I have been earning credits, and building up my skills to put in my resumes so by the time that I am out of here, I am ready for the real world. Overall, this school is really supportive, and if you are truly independent and have a strive for education and life, then I'd highly suggest this school for you.
The San Diego Metro Career & Tech High School is a mixed bag. On one hand, you have the opportunity to explore various internships and free college classes on Mesa College campus, and on the other students stay with the same homeroom teachers all four years at the Met (its nickname), and the math education is severely lacking. However, I always end the day grateful for the opportunity I've received as a student at the San Diego Met, despite its flaws (which I believe it will fix, as it is still a young school). Because of the Met, I am able to explore various internships and free college classes, and being able to do so at such a young age has truly helped me become a much more well-rounded, intelligent, and independent individual, who has a much better grasp of who they are and how they want to contribute to society than most.
