We moved here from New York about 4 years ago. My children started in the preschool of SDJA and have been there ever since! Currently, our children are in the lower school and are excelling in all areas. For example, my son and daughter are reading above grade level. The small class sizes and constant attention they receive keeps them engaged and on task. The teachers are constantly creating special experiences for the students, and therefore the lessons never get old. For example, with all the rain that San Diego received my daughter’s teacher created a multi-sensory lesson. The students were asked to create small sailboats from materials found in the classroom. The boats were then tested on the makeshift pond that was formed on the playground from all the rain. The students made predictions and took notice on what worked best and what needed to be changed for future sails!
Small student/teacher ratio, warm community. I have two sons (Kinder and 3rd grade) and both of their teachers clearly love what they do! Also great academics - lots of small-group learning by level so my son gets what he needs) The academics are made fun with multi-sensory learning. The school also has lots of great resources with regard to music, art, garden program, and guidance program (social/emotional learning). And the campus is beautiful too.
I have gone to SDJA my whole life and it was an amazing experience. The classroom and grade sizes are small but that makes for a better more personalized experience. I really got to know my teachers and they understood my specific needs and how I could succeed. The campus is beautiful and all the facilities are in excellent condition. The community at the school is so kind and welcoming and they have helped me each year I have gone to school there. Anyone considering this school regardless of religion should take a go at it. The education is to quality with amazing teachers and the connections you make at that school truly last forever.
