The worst part of my experience is seeing the staff and faculty to be treated without dignity. Although they are in the field dealing with issues first hand, they really do not have a say in the matter. We have teachers being displaced into teaching subjects they have no knowledge on which also reflects on the students. Despite these trials and tribulations they overcome adversity and impact the lives of each student. The staff really do care about their students. They take the time to listen, to joke, and even sometimes just sit in silence with a student. They pass down their knowledge and wisdom and wish for each student to succeed. Interacting with great, inspirational figures was the best part of my experience.
I honestly really enjoyed my experience at Clemens, speaking a senior now GET INVOLVED AND KEEP ON TOP OF YOUR WORK! Your experience will be so much more enjoyable spending time with people who share similar interests, and when you can have two off periods your senior year. Take journalism/join the publications! The teacher, and organization is something I am extremely grateful for. I have met some of my best friends through that program, and still talk to past graduates today. You will learn real world experience, and BEEF up your resume in ways not thought possible. Take Dual Credit classes! They are insanely better and easier than AP and the teachers are amazing (plus you will receive college credit from just taking the class). I do wish however, COVID-19 was dealt with better, but that is not the schools fault more so Texas in general.
For the past four years, my experience as a student has had many ups and downs. My teachers were amazing, and a few even cared about my personal lives. I was also able to bring my GPA up significantly due to my teachers compassion. The reason I give only four stars is because of the lack of help I've received on my college search and the process itself from my counselors. I was completely alone in figuring out what all I needed and all the steps to take, and anytime I did ask for help It was mostly useless information that provided no help. It also didn't help much taken I am a first generation student in my family perusing college. Aside from the lack of help on the next steps, I've enjoyed my time at Samuel Clemens, participating in UIL events and making a few close friends along the way.
