I moved to Salem High School at the beginning of my Freshman year and was quickly welcomed to the new school with open arms. Being in a small town, sometimes its hard to adjust to groups that have been established for many years but that was not an issue at Salem at all. All of the teachers, staff and administrators are very helpful and encourage students to be and do their very best.
Salem is a 2A school and very small in class size. I like that it is small and your class size is small in ratio to teachers. Everyone knows each other and we treat one another like family.
It is a small school so you get to know each classmate as you grow up, all of the faculty are well trained and go above and beyond to ensure students success. The College Algebra teacher when I went to school there was excellent and really helped to spend time with each student to make sure they knew the lesson being taught before moving on.
The teachers make tutoring available before and after school. You get your schedule as soon as Open House and if the teachers give you homework it's not a lot. Also if there is going to be a test, the teachers make sure you don't have a sporting event the day before. The teachers are very helpful.
They are very knowledgeable and engage students in their lessons.
We have beta club, science club, quiz bowl, student council, FCCLA, FBLA, and Ag. Everyone of this clubs are very committed to what they do, Quiz bowl is great the junior high team won 3rd at state and 2nd at regionals. They are just all great most of them compete at state levels also.
I love this school! Every time I go to another town people will maybe see a Salem shirt I'm wearing. They'll always say something so positive about our school and we always get complimented for our academics because we are very intelligent. Our teachers are the main reason for this because they are the best in the state especially Mr. Kerley and Mrs. Smith-Harber they are the brightest teachers I know. We also get complemented for our sports teams mainly girls basketball and softball. The junior high girls won conference and the senior high girls won conference and district. The baseball team and boys basketball teams are pretty good as well. I just love this school it's easy to make friends and those friends don't judge you. GO HOUNDS!
It's Amazing once you see past how Un-Interested some of the parents are but other than that the school is just Amazing
Our athletes are very devoted to their game, sometimes a little too devoted. The sports teams have a large amount of community and school support.
The teachers are nice and the counselor helps a lot and we have lots of college options near by and far away
As a student we are comfortable but some things are not tolerated
The school is clean and we practice drills and policies and the teachers are nice and as are the students but bullying is inevitable
Our teachers are none the less some of the best teachers around! They know exactly what to say and how to react to problems and they are always there to help even if it's not school related.
Some bus drivers are better then others but they all do there jobs right and there is nothing wrong with them.
This school has been my school since I could read everything is great I love the experiences and chances of trips and higher education the teachers are excellent at encouraging you to better yourself and they are always there to support you and help you if you need it.
Our school does not tolerate violence or bullying if someone is bullied the principal will personally take care if it.
We have many after school activities cheap and affordable and very fun over half of our school is a part if some type of after school activity.
