The theater program is amazing! I'm a theater student and I adore my teachers. They are fabulous artists who really inspire me to not just make better theater but to grow as a person. We have a lot of very specialized classes in things such as Stage Combat, philosophy of art, and acting movement styles. We are ALWAYS acting, and everyone does 2-3 full shows per year in school.
The students are all very unique and SUPER talented. In terms of drama, it's here like it is any school but it does suck how fast everything spreads. The school isn't very diverse racially (80% white kids), but if you are an LGBTQ+ kid, this is the place for you. Huge gay and trans population and we really value inclusion that way.
The academics aren't the BEST, but the teachers still care about student success. They work hard to make sure we are staying on track. Mr. Grev is really good and he made me love math for the first time!
Downtown setting is cool but the lack of sports/extracurriculars is meh

Going to this school was by far the best decision of my life yet. It has given me more opportunities than I could have ever imagined going to a "normal" school. This school had given me a great sense of independence, as well as confidence and I would encourage anyone who has an interest in the arts and wants a unique high school experience to go to SPCPA!
My education at SPCPA was fulfilling both artistically and academically. I have been successful in my post-secondary studies thanks to SPCPA's culture of encouraging personal responsibility - the environment fosters students to take pride in their work and learn from the process. There is emphasis on crafting yourself into a well-rounded and passionate person through our studies, outside of simply doing a subject for a grade.

Students are given many opportunities for academic and emotional support (if they choose to utilize them) and my parents were pleased with the regular communication provided to families.

Though there are limited extracurricular activities (yearbook, student council), the school makes known many outside opportunities through connections from its staff and other students. I was able to participate in activities with students from other schools and professional artists and it was a great networking tool.
