We are in our 10th year at Sage and have nothing but wonderful things to say about it. We started in kindergarten, and their IB program provides so much hands-on inquiry-based learning to make school fun for young learners. The teachers are all amazing. There is no school on Fridays, giving students a chance to recoup or catch up on schoolwork, and the teachers and staff have a full day each week to collaborate, prep, and learn. Their middle school and high school programs are rigorous but fair, and do a wonderful job preparing our kids for college, career, and just life in general! They teach kids to be critical thinkers, but also caring and responsible citizens of the world. We love Sage!
The teachers there are wonderful. Not only do they ensure that the content is being taught in more than one way, but the also take the time to check in on their students. The teach you life skills, and make you a better person. I enjoyed my time at Sage because the teachers care about the person you’re going to become, not just how well you can learn. Sure I know the content, and yes I know it well, but none of that would matter if I didn’t know how to enter a world where I would need it. I learned more than just regurgitating information. I learned how to understand it, connect it all, and apply it. Sage was the best school I’d ever been to, and I genuinely believe that I’m a better person for going there than if I had gone to a larger public school. The fact that it’s K-12 is also amazing. I’ve been there since I was in 5th grade, and I got to make deep and important connections with my peers. You don’t get that at a regular 4 year high school. I loved Sage.
The school environment was marvelous for the academically minded, and the teachers are beyond amazing. I felt as though they, especially at the high school level, cared deeply about the students and quickly came to see you as people, whole humans to be cared about. There was a lot of care put into creating a strong sense of community. I will have positive memories of both the teachers and the administration. There was shockingly little cliquishness in my class, and very little bullying as well. I felt as though I knew most of my classmates, and the school was quite good at getting involvement between grades, from friendly competition to mentorship and friendship. The sports were limited, but much effort was put into making sure whatever wasn't offered at the school was made available through other schools or organizations. If I had any complaint, it would be that the charter school status made it hard to have music, arts, and theater classes or activities.
