Sage Creek High School was a very good pick for me personally for many reasons. Going into highschool, I wanted to attend a school that was going to not only help me determine my own strengths and passions, but also give me the opportunities to grow and excel in those new found areas. As a freshman in 2016, I knew that I liked science and math so I knew that Sage Creek's STEM program was going to be a great fit for me. I got started right away in learning about my own strengths and what areas I was most passionate about. Sage Creek is uniquely wonderful because it offers separate biomedical and engineering pathways aside from normal required classes for credit. Taking the PLTW biomed course all four of my years at Sage helped me discover my passion for nursing and set me off strong on my way to earning a BSN degree in college. Sage Creek is also great because it runs on a trimester system so you end up graduating with many more credits, which is beneficial when applying for college.

This school is amazing if you want to go to college. Beware of any review that says the classes are too rigorous or too fast; the trimester system is only hard if you enroll in honors classes or APs you shouldn't be in. If you're shooting for a UC or a prestigious college, Sage has the right resources for you. And if that's not for you, most non-honors classes are a breeze (except for a few fluke teachers, maybe), but are about the same quality as Carlsbad High. Consider both schools-- come to Sage if you're a serious scholar or run distance (xc qualifies for state every year, as of 2020), or if you just want a smaller class.
Sage Creek is overall a wonderful school that fosters diversity and acceptance while challenging students to push themselves to be their best. If there was one thing that could be improved, it would be the school's mental health program. Currently, there is one psychologist for 1,400 students who is not only overworked, but also lacks the training to be able to help students work through any challenges related to mental health. A solution would be allocating funds to either train the counselors and psychologist on how to better help students, or to investing in a therapist students could have access to.
