I have had the most amazing education at SHS. The teachers teach beyond the book and what is required, which allows me to have a truly well rounded education. In addition, they are extremely supportive and truly want to get to know the students. There are lots of opportunities for students to get involved in pretty much anything, from sports to leadership to arts. Leadership opportunities are structured in a way that is balanced during the school day, so student athletes or performers in the play can still be involved in other clubs. The school has really placed emphasis on student wellness also. And, the community is supportive and fun. I have loved my experience as a gator and will miss it next year!

Tremendous leadership. The head of school pushes for improvement constantly. Major upgrade of lower school teaching staff in recent years. Middle School teachers are especially strong. Significant program expansion, including a first-rate Fine Arts program, writing specialists, and international travel opportunities. Academics are strong. Extracurriculars are also great. Athletics program is notable for its willingness to build several teams in each grade. My daughter is not a great athlete, but because the school encourages every student to participate, she can play on the third basketball team, for example, and the athletic director works hard to give that team an excellent schedule, and everyone gets plenty of time on the court. Practices are during PE, which makes it easy.

The school takes advantage of its unusual preschool through 12th grade community with such activities as the All School Musical, where kindergartners can become friends with high school students.

The community is as warm and supportive as any group I have ever been part of.

With 60-plus acres in a prime location, the facilities are unmatched.
I have two children who have graduated from this school and one currently attending.

The older kids have matriculated into fantastic universities and are succeeding there. As importantly, they graduated from SHS Atherton with deep lasting friendships, adult mentors and role models, a curiosity about and courage to explore the world, and a commitment to serve in their communities.

My younger child, a LD student, has access to thoughtful and effective support services and the creative support of her teachers. Because of this, she is willing to work hard and has a strong sense of self, place, and limitless purpose despite her challenges.
