It was a great school because it was located in a small town and you knew all of your friends, shared classes with them, and all participated in group activities together. It made everyone feel connected to each other. But after leaving I realized that it sheltered me in a way. I was not introduced to real life situations and instead of preparing me, I had to figure it all out after I graduated.
Sacred Heart is a private school, and the faculty has had so much to offer in my years here. It is a Catholic school, and we are small, but my time here has prepared me for so much for my time in college. I have taken honors classes throughout high school, and I have learned so much. Our counselor has shown us many opportunities to help us in our futures in college. We are given scholarship opportunities, and we are offered awards and honors based on the status of our GPAs. Our experience, overall, is a ten out of ten, in my opinion.
Having a Catholic education was paramount for my family. I don't think it is something you appreciate until you realize those days are almost gone. My school is a family; really it is. The administration, faculty and staff are invested in all of us; our families included. We aren't just faces in the crowd. I know I am ready for what ever college has to throw at me academically and I am certain I will succeed thanks to the honors courses, dual enrollment and enrichment programs I took while there. I played organized sports for 4 years and what my coaches taught is invaluable; fortitude, perseverance, compromise and loyalty. It is a brotherhood I will miss tenfold. But the most important lessons I learned weren't just about who I am and who I can be. Sacred Heart High School deepened my love for my Faith and opened my eyes to what life is really about; selflessness and charity. If there were more of that in our world, we might just survive each other.
