SWS boasts a welcoming community, stellar academics, and diverse course offerings. The students are known as individuals whose opinions and thoughts are valued. An added bonus is that the high school test scores are on par with (and many years beat out) the top area competing college prep schools, despite the lack of emphasis on testing at SWS. A holistic approach to learning that cultivates productive and thoughtful members of society, and there’s lots of fun to be had on the educational journey as well. Wonderful school!
Sac Waldorf has been a dream come true in so many ways for our son and our entire family for that matter! Great teachers, great classmates and great academics. The school (and adjacent organic farm)are situated along the American River in an absolutely beautiful and safe environment. The curriculum is challenging, creative and engaging. What other school offers blacksmithing, has an Architecture class, and will often conduct a literature or history class down by the banks of the river? Like most parents, we toured many schools, read countless reviews and really did our "homework" prior to deciding to transfer our son to SWS. It was a decision we have NEVER regretted. Not once.
Sac Waldorf is unusual in that the curriculum meets the whole child. Having been a parent for here about 7 years, I see how rich and deep the curriculum is and that kids build capacities far beyond that of my big public school education (which is ranked highly). The sciences, math, arts, humanities & more...are all valued. The high school is rigorous, and keeps students working hard, but in a good way...not simply memorizing & regurgitating material. Overall, I’m impressed with SWS and it they have helped encourage so many loves (music, math, etc) in my child.
