Rewarding is the word I would use to best describe each and every aspect of attending Sachem North High School. When applying maximum effort, each and every staff member simultaneously joins in the battle of achieving a students goal. Those who continuously go above and beyond reap astonishing reward, and are met with guidance to the steps at a bright future. The reward, at the end of a difficult week, test, or sheer exhaustion is enough to keep a student feeling determined and resilient. After attending the extra help, spending the extra time completing extra work, or spending extra time studying knowing tomorrow—walking into school with a rewarding feeling. Teachers who have inspired me to take risks, and taught me important life lessons, which I will carry forever. Rewarding feelings of continuing my life, while holding these lessons and memories, and implementing them into each and every day and challenge I face.
In my time at sachem north the most enjoyable part for me was the social aspect. Meeting some of my best friends and boyfriend while attending school, creating hopefully life long relationships. In addition to school events like pep rallies, dances, sport games. However, I wish the school prioritized the importance of mental health more. Instead of focusing so much on if kids are skipping school or vaping in bathrooms, to focus on if they are okay and what the school can do to help maximize their education. Without just focusing on penalizing kids anytime they do anything even remotely wrong. I mean some of us are adults and are able to drive cars and we are not even allowed to use the bathrooms at times or keep our personal property with us. The school needs to start focusing on education instead of control ad punishment
In my opinion, the school does offer a lot of options and opportunities for all and every student, including a wide change of classes and electives and other programs to' future a student's career and get them started on what they want to do in the future. The environment in the school is very different and I found the other students to have different views and looked at other students in a unique way. The school does have many different people you can go to from the teachers and other designated staff members and your schedule is flexible and can be changed if the student wishes. However, I find some of the rules that are designated in the school to not always be useful and can sometimes complicate a situation if a person wants to accomplish something specific. Overall, the school is a great place and does have many opportunities that are not available to many students in other schools and I have the ability to change and accomplish what I want in the school.
