From Rudolf Steiner School New York City

Rudolf Steiner School introduces your children to an inspirational academic growth path that fosters their curiosity and confidence, nurtures their intellect and soul, and equips them to journey through life with purpose and agility. An oasis nestled in the heart of Manhattan, our school has been offering Waldorf education for over 90 years.
From our Parent-Child Program through High School, the Waldorf method embraces a threefold “head, heart, and hands approach”, balancing cognitive and emotional intelligence, integrating rigorous academic work with fine and practical arts, experiential lessons, and physical activity.
We hold classes in our two beautiful mansions on the Upper East Side, and outdoors in nearby Central Park. Our students study art along Museum Mile, explore nature in the park, and perform at Carnegie Hall. Steiner graduates are deep thinkers and creative innovators, who cherish their experience at our school, and their connection to the global Waldorf community.

My three children all attend the school, from pre-school through middle school. The Steiner Waldorf education is a highly structured, tradition-based education that focuses on age appropriate learning all the way from pre-school through 12th grade. This is our second Waldorf school, and we can appreciate it’s strengths even compared to other schools that follow the Waldorf education. While it may not have the facilities of larger schools, and its focus on traditional teaching methods and techniques may not be for everyone, it repeatedly and consistently produces graduates that are highly sought after by colleges and other schools. But what really makes the school is the quality of the teachers, who are the most dedicated, committed teachers you will ever meet at any school.

All 3 of my children attend(ed) the Rudolf Steiner School. The education has met each of them as individuals, providing them with the balanced academic environment they need(ed). My oldest is a student at Bates College. She entered college ready to take on new challenges fully prepared academically. The environment at Steiner taught her to think creatively, problem solve and advocate for herself. She has studied physics, astronomy and psychology. Steiner students are curious about learning as they're exposed to so many topics over the course of their education. I highly recommend visiting our school and meeting our community. We are a school filled with parents, children, faculty and administrators who are passionate about education.
My children are growing up as balanced, happy and creative individuals, I believe in large part because of the developmentally based, artistically rich curriculum. Such a wide range of skills are supported and valued in daily practice, strengthening a broad range of interests for the children to explore. Children gain a quiet confidence that comes from a supportive community and opportunities to gain skill with so many different materials and projects.
No small detail is the delicious and organic lunch that is provided everyday and supports their taste for healthy food and building healthy life habits.
