I have 13 years under my belt at Roxbury. I am currently a senior, and have been going here since kindergarten. Roxbury is a very small school. As a result it lacks the same amount of sports and clubs that many bigger schools offer. But it is a nice experience to know everyone's face and personality at the school. Because the school is so small most students are able to play sports, which sounds like a good thing but it has its disadvantages too. Many people play sports simply just to play. A lot of players did not actually enjoy playing sports. Another thing about the small student bodie is that there is not a wide selection of AP classes available to the students. There are many supportive teachers here at Roxbury, however several of them do not know how to control their classroom and allow horseplay (which also says a lot about the student body at times). The food has improved over the past few years (and they offer free food for students now, which is pretty awesome!!).
Small school. Teachers most likely lived in the area and may have taught the parents or the siblings of some students. Because of the small size, limited in clubs and activities. Many teachers were average, but there are some who will go above and beyond for their students. K-12 so class size is small and you will likely know every person in a class on a personal level.
It's the best education you are going to get for the area. The school is nice and the teachers actually care. Small class sizes.
