It's a small school setting that is great at allowing one on one help for every student and provides a great learning experience. It makes learning better and provides a great social aspect to help students have a full rounded education. One setback is that sometimes the class sizes seem to be a little small which can provide a lot of unnecessary drama but the great education opportunity outweighs the negative aspects.
My high school was located in a small, close-knit community of 500. I enjoyed going to a small school because the teachers were very student-focused and were willing to assist before, during, and after school. The small classrooms allowed interactive lessons that included everybody, so nobody was excluded from learning. I experienced a fantastic secondary education and was given the guidance I needed to thrive, graduating as the class valedictorian and closing out my first semester of college with a 4.0 GPA. I would love to take the credit for my success, however I know that my high school teachers gave me the resources I needed to be where I am today. If I would have attended a large high school, I very well may have been lost in the shuffle with many other students.
I enjoyed this school because of its small size. I was able to participate in anything that I had an interest in, such as school dances, clubs, and athletic teams. I was a member of the book club, student council, and National Honor Society, as well as the captain of the girls' volleyball and basketball teams. On top of my activities, I was able to make close bonds with my classmates, teammates, and peers. The bonds that I made in high school are one reason why I would not choose to go to another school.
