Ross School was founded in 1991 by Courtney and Steven J. Ross, who recognized that preparing students to meet the challenges of an increasingly connected and rapidly changing world requires innovative models to transform education. Drawing on pedagogical research from leading education experts, the Ross Model incorporates a global perspective with integrated, hands-on learning and active problem solving. Field Academy is an opportunity for students and teachers to travel around the world and work on intensive projects during the three weeks between Winter and Spring Terms. Each Field Academy trip offers a wide variety of classes and programs in order to expose students to immersive study, new interests, possible college/career paths, volunteer opportunities, and recreational pursuits.

Ross School has an amazing interconnected curriculum that challenges students in school in ways that other schools don’t have. It has a diverse population with many boarding students from all over the world. Their sports have upcoming programs that are combined with other good programs too. Their cafe is the best school food I’ve ever had.

Review Ross School

Ross is indeed very different from other schools in many ways. Probably, one of the most notable parts about Ross is its unique curriculum. The Ross Spiral Curriculum enables students to become well rounded and gives students a lot of freedom to learn and explore in multiple subjects. Being a student at Ross has opened my eyes to so many new things. I am very pleased that I am in such a diverse and interesting community. There are students from all around the world, like Mexico, Brazil, Germany, China, Korea, Russia, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Japan, and more. Because students are being exposed to diversity everyday in the school, students become more open-minded and learn how to understand and embrace others. This experience has hugely impacted me and has marked a turning point for me because I was never a person who enjoys learning about other people's uniquenesses before I came to Ross.

Following a Socratic approach to learning, teachers build a strong relationship with students that not only makes it easier to seek aid or advice from them but also makes the learning experience that much more enjoyable. Teachers even become mentors or friends were students can really connect to a teacher with the same interests and build that relationship. Sharing a coffee, or entertaining interesting conversations is not new in Ross between students and teachers. That is what makes Ross teachers great, the fact that they are willing to go above and beyond to help a student grow inside and outside the classroom.
