I had a pretty poor experience I'd say, the teachers are kind for the most part, but it really depends on the teacher and honestly how social you are. Favoritism definitely is prevalent, sports kids for the most part will be given more attention and advantages (such as if they begin doing bad in classes they're more likely to be given help than the other students). Students being rude is rather common, both to the teachers and classmates, for the most part nothing is done despite this school supposedly being so against bully. When I went to the counselor he was not very accepting of me as a trans person and because of that didn't really give me the support I needed while I was struggling ("come in with one problem, come out with two" seems common for counselor visits). While the school is rather racially diverse, racism is still very common, same goes for disabled/neurodivergent students and LGBT+ students who are treated poorly by students and ignored by staff.
When I spent time at Rosewood and tried to get on everybody's good side, a whole lot more times than not, I had the other cheek turned to me and little to no clarity on which direction I should have been headed. Never treated like a family member. Never got any sort of invite. It always kind of felt like I had to force my way into things to help out only to be either kicked out or ignored. Over my early adult years, I thought it was just something wrong with me. Then I got married to another alum and 12 years later found my brother-in-law getting the exact same treatment from about 70 percent of his own classmates. I personally would not recommend this school at all to anyone. They are not in the least bit kind to autistics or generally speaking anyone that doesn't fit the community's blueprint. They saw me there and turned their noses up at me. There is zero chance that they'll see any of my kids, one of which has also been diagnosed with autism.
The community around Rosewood is normally described as "tight-knit" or "like a family". While I'm not extraordinarily close with anyone in this community, I will say that being in Rosewood is like being at a family cookout, you know everyone and everyone knows you. I could even go to our local Walmart and point out five people I know. Rosewood High School is also really good at developing their students into hard-working individuals. In a lot of cases, if someone from Rosewood doesn't choose the college route, you can find them running a successful local business or close to developing a new brand. Overall, Wayne County has a lot of schools to choose from, but Rosewood will give you the best results.
