I really enjoyed my time here at Roosevelt High School. All of the staff members and teachers were very helpful to the students to ensure they can succeed in high school. The school had a lot of school spirit, especially during football season and homecoming season where we cheer our school to victory. I would have to say the music and art department always puts on really good musicals and shows that I would have to say really good and the students who participated are really good actors. The school food was decent but I would recommend bigger portions and more diverse food that kids are unfamiliar with. So that they can try and taste what type of food that cuisine has to offer. Overall, I made a lot of good memories from this school, and I hope the next generations of students entering this school will have a blast and make memories!
Academics are decent; there's a fair share of poor and good teachers available, although you will often find help if you seek it. The school provides a wide variety of accelerated (honors) and AP courses to choose from. However, the school administration hardly cares about its students' well-being. Bullying is rampant and little is done to prevent it, especially if the perpetrators happen to be varsity athletes or poster children. The counselors provide little help in the college process; if you plan to go out of state for college, I advise you to do your own research as counselors are often unknowledgeable about them. Besides these issues, the school's cafeteria food is often undercooked and bland in taste. Students are mostly well-behaved, though there have been occasional fights and drug busts present. It is not hard for one to find their niche, as there is diversity in thought and (less so) in background, as well as many extracurriculars for students to participate in.
Roosevelt high school was overall a great place for learning and growth. The staff was good, we had funding for our extracurricular programs, and I felt like I received a quality education. The one part that was less than satisfactory for me was when I had a teacher that refused to help me catch up on schoolwork when I was gone, didn't show up to scheduled study sessions, and constantly berated us for not knowing the material. I brought this up to the principal, who let me switch teachers, however apparently this same teacher has had dozens of other students file similar complaints, but the administration never did anything about it. I was thankful to my principal for helping me find a different instructor for the course, but I was slightly disappointed that a teacher that everyone knew to be ineffective was still on stage.
