Rondout Valley High School has a lot of opportunities, catering to many different interests and skills, but only if you are looking for them. Some of the teachers care a great deal about each student, some of them don't. Most will make time for you, but only if you advocate for yourself.
The school lacks in diversity because the area is overwhelmingly white, there are some underlying problems involving racism that get conveniently ignored.
The administration is currently in disarray, due to the previous principles death almost a year go. But the school is steadily recovering and I believe it will grow exponentially given the adequate time.
Overall I have made the best of my time here, and, while its not perfect, Rondout gets the job done.

Rondout Valley High School is overall a very good public school. Being that it is a small school it is a lot more community based with nearly everyone knowing each other which has resulted in a friendly atmosphere and lots of support systems from staff and students. The academics are good with teachers being very helpful and willing to spend the extra time to work with you, there are plenty of clubs and sports to get involved in as well as a strong sense of school spirit, and the cafeteria workers are always looking for great new ways to be creative with the food they serve such as the salads. Rondout Valley is the type of school that presents you with everything you need to have a successful and fun high school career, but overall its what you put into your time here that will determine what you get out of it.
Rondout valley high school is a small, and mostly friendly high school. The atmosphere is great and in the school everybody knows everybody. Students in the hall are always trying to help each other and be respectful of each other. The teachers want nothing more than to see their students succeed no matter what and its clear to see. Overall Rondout is a great school.
