In my opinion, Rondout Valley High School has started to recognize that they needed to become more progressive in their thinking and have begun to implement changes that are definitely moving them in the right direction. I feel that the school did not know how to properly prepare its students for their future. This was clear based on course options, guidance counseling and teaching. The district has changed Superintendents and with this change there have been changes made in the high school in all of those areas that are positive steps toward making it easier for students to achieve their goals.

Rondout Valley High School has a lot of opportunities, catering to many different interests and skills, but only if you are looking for them. Some of the teachers care a great deal about each student, some of them don't. Most will make time for you, but only if you advocate for yourself.
The school lacks in diversity because the area is overwhelmingly white, there are some underlying problems involving racism that get conveniently ignored.
The administration is currently in disarray, due to the previous principles death almost a year go. But the school is steadily recovering and I believe it will grow exponentially given the adequate time.
Overall I have made the best of my time here, and, while its not perfect, Rondout gets the job done.
Rondout is a very accepting school, with a lot of accommodations for students with special or extra needs. Most of the teachers thoroughly enjoy their jobs, and you can tell by the way they conduct their classes. Rondout is quick to jump on any bullying and generally provides a safe area for kids to get the most out of their education. At times the administration seems to be lacking in terms of listening to the community, but this did not create too much friction between the school and the residents of the district.
