This school has many diverse students, so it is nice seeing other POC students who have very different experiences that I am able to learn off of. Although teachers have multiple classes filled with many students, they still take the effort to acknowledge students and make us feel comfortable. I have met individuals very different from me and I was able to get along with a wide variety of students. I also love the variety of classes and electives that students are offered, as these classes helped me realize what I am personally interested in. I gained new interests, and the ability to choose my classes makes me feel like I had direct involvement in how my high school path flourished. I feel that I am well equipped to continue my education due to the school!
Ronald E. McNair was once an excellent school, but its quality has dropped over time. There’s a plethora of activities aimed to help the students, but every students agrees it holds us back. The staff was once very helpful and it was obvious they cared about their students, but there’s been an increase in unfairness and favoritism. They security is very poor. McNair has two floors, there are classrooms inside and outside. The admin decided to lock every entrance except the main one, making students late to class. Students would use the side gate (Near the classrooms) to enter the school, but now they have to walk to/get dropped off at the overhang, which is on the other side of campus, making students even more late. Possibly the worst part of Mcnair are the bathrooms. The bathrooms are constantly closed, students have to walk all around campus searching for a toilet. If they find one, there will be no paper, body fluid on the walls and floor, no sanitary napkins, and flooded floors.
Most teachers I've gotten are nice and will actually prepare you for college. If you're struggling with their class, you can just email them about it. Counselors are understanding and will help you pick classes that are right for your career pathway. Staffs are friendly too, especially the cafeteria ladies, they are very sweet! The diversity of this school is A+. If you're a freshman, there are link crew people who will help you around the school and you can ask them about any of your concerns. There are plenty of sports you can choose from, fall sports or spring sports. As I said, this school is very diverse, there are a lot of multicultural clubs you can join! This is also an LGBTQ+ friendly school, there is a club where you can join and have fun with people you are comfortable with.
