At New Tech, students learn how to function in society. At New Tech, the teachers aren't there to tell you what to think, they're there to teach how to think. This is important because in the real world, at work, you have to adapt to your surroundings and nobody is going to tell you exactly what you need to do. This school teaches you how to think for yourself. The food might not be top notch and the students might be a little crazy, but Rogers New Technology deserves to be the number one ranked school in Arkansas!

Rogers New Technology was an amazing experience. I developed professional presentation skills and became a Microsoft Office Specialist. I explored areas of art, digital communications, and precision machining. There are so many opportunities at this school. We have a very VERY diverse school, but we all come together as one big family. Everyone knows everyone. Teachers are fun to talk to. More and more clubs are made each year. While our Vice principal may seem scary if you're doing something wrong, she truly has a heart of gold. Dr. Arbuckle, our principal, is a Vanilla Ice singing KU fan/alumni who loves this school. That is why my class nominated him for the AASSP Administrator of the Year Award for which he won! The only downsides to this school are that it's a charter school, so if you want to play sports you have to be bussed elsewhere. Parents while distant at first are slowly developing the PTO.
At the start of my experience, the school was outstanding. I came here my freshman year and immediately loved it. The teachers treated us as adults (let us manage ourselves in terms of restroom/phone use until we proved untrustworthy, gave us say in decisions, etc) and it was something I really enjoyed. The reason I came here was because it was different, and it made me feel like one of their peers rather than an inferior. This year, senior year, a lot has started to go downhill. Rules have come into effect that twisted the school into what we all came here to avoid. We are no longer allowed to eat in class, we can't use the courtyard they spent thousands on without applying for a card proving we deserve it, we can't use the restroom in some classes, etc. The breaking point was my graphic design teacher taking off 25% of my points because I didn't follow her artistic process (a process that was not helpful to me as an individual and would have wasted my time).
