This was our first year at RSS (entering K). We have been blown away by the sense of community, warmth and education. We were looking for an environment where our son would be academically challenged in a nurturing and supportive setting + have fun. As a family we wanted to be with other families who shared our values and would welcome us! This is exactly what our experience has been. The sense of community and warmth never ceases to amaze me - parents, teachers and students are all welcoming and inclusive. The academics have been great - individualized, supportive and challenging. Our son has learned so much this year…from reading and writing to Hebrew, as well as really building out math strategies (he is a big math lover). There is focus on values and creating socially conscious citizens of the world. And importantly for him lots of fun, both in the classroom, in specials like music, art and yoga and in great after school programming. We (and he!) couldn’t be happier!
I cannot say enough positive things about the Rodeph Sholom School community. From the Nursery program, Summer Camp program, and Upper School classes, the teachers, administration, and clergy are top notch! Teachers genuinely care about the children in their classes, are professional and happy to be at work, and are great resources for parents. The intelligence, positivity, collaboration, and creativity amongst the staff permeates throughout the hallways and sets the warm feel of Rodeph Sholom School. Each morning upon entering school, division heads and teachers greet students by name, and children look forward to walking into school each and every day! A love of learning is certainly fostered here. Rodeph Sholom School is a wonderful school that I recommend to anyone whole heartedly.
I have two children in the middle school at RSS. They have been at the school since kindergarten. I have been most impressed by how well rounded my children have become while at RSS. They have learned and refined the necessary studentship skills to succeed at each level and, even more importantly, developed the qualities of becoming thoughtful, kind, and respectful children. The school, through programs like advisory and Jewish Studies, emphasizes building moral values and character within its students, and this, in turn, is reinforced throughout school activities such as athletics and class trips. In addition, I have been truly impressed by the school’s increased commitment to outdoor education and by using trips to places around the city (and beyond) to show their students how to give back to the community. And, perhaps most importantly, it is the sense of community within RSS that sets it apart from the rest of the private schools in the City!
