Rocky Mountain High School Reviews
Rating 3.88 out of 5 572 reviews
Since my Freshman year, Rocky has come a long way. The majority of teachers there are very supportive and great at their jobs. They care about their students and want to see them succeed. However, like anywhere else there are still some teachers who teach because they have to teach. This school year there was a change in administration as our last principal retired. Now the new administration is trying their best to make the school better. One thing I would change is having better counselors who can help the students who struggle mentally. In my experience, the counselors there have no clue how to handle situations where students need help because of their mental health. They only know how to fix and help students with their schedules. On the other hand Rocky has amazing dual credit and advanced classes, as well as a huge variety. It’s helped me complete my full first year of college in high school and still have extra credits!
Rocky Mountain High School is very high in school spirt! Many students get very involved in expressing their love for this school by going to the footballs games and other sports events this school has to offer. Lots of the funding for this school goes into the sporting category. I think this school could improve by dispersing the funds more evenly into other groups in the school, such as the arts and theater groups. I also believe that more money could go directly to the classrooms and teachers to allow for a better education. Although, Rocky does offer a lot of AP and honors courses, which is very nice. I also enjoy having the option to travel to other schools through the CTE classes. All in all, Rocky is a good school but could use some improving to better the education and enjoyment of all its students.
I have lived in a different state every year of high school. This is by far the best school I have attended. The campus is clean, organized, and spacious. As a new student, it was easy to adjust and navigate to my classes. In terms of staff, they are kind and helpful. My counselor helped me substantially and in terms of teachers, I have had only positive experiences. The College Readiness Department is also very friendly and organized. There are a variety of resources online, handouts, reminder texts, and SAT/Scholarship books you can check out. In terms of classes, they provide a variety of concurrent and AP courses that were previously unavailable to me at other schools. There are also several options for classes under each category, so it gives a lot of flexibility and choice to students. The sports department is also amazing! While I love this school, I do have a few criticisms. There is a problem with overcrowding and I think a dress code could help.
