The staff is very outreaching, helpful, and connecting. Once you get to know the teachers on more of a personal scale, you really enjoy your time with them. Many departments such as the Music & Arts or Social Studies departments have teachers that will not just teach you to be a good student, but also a good citizen and human. A department that I would like to see change in is the Mathematics department! Countless students including myself find Math to be a more challenging concept to understand and learn then other subjects. So far most of the Teachers in the Mathematics department have little to no leniency on assignments that students turn in with mistakes or late, just because they do not understand the material being presented. Some don't even offer extra - credit opportunities to assist a student to boost their grade! It's as if they want the student to fail! These are a few good and bad things about my Rockville Highschool experience so far!
Although i am in tenth grade here at Rockville, My overall experience has been amazing. Before i came here a lot of people were telling me that this school was a bad school, but i still made the decision to come and i'm glad i did because i have met amazing and supportive people from students to teachers. High school is about putting together your future and Rockville has a ton to offer. This is a very under rated school. This school sports and education is getting a lot better. If you want a good experience in high school, then do the work, and get involved! Coming here is not a regret.
During my 3 years (so far) here, the administration has certainly turned for the worse with highly unfair and selfish policies that ruin the classroom experience by limiting resources for students. However, there are many great classes and clubs offered. Restrooms are typically always closed due to vandalism and when open, they are disgusting and overall in very poor maintenance. The school counseling office is amazing and many teachers have great personalities that make any student feel eager to learn. Many AP and ECE classes are offered which help prepare students for college well.
