Part of your entire experience depends on if you chose to do honors classes or not. The teachers who teach honors courses here are fairly decent and the majority care about their subject. The other teachers though...not so much. The non-honors students experience verbal abuse at the hands of many of their teachers. The guidance counselors are also completely useless at their jobs. The students are awful too. I can see my peers on a regular basis vaping in the bathrooms, getting into fights, using racial slurs, and other repulsive acts. It is possible to succeed here, but you are going to have no one to rely on but yourself and you will always have to be on top of what you want out of this school because the counselors here are not going to bother to tell you about any opportunities unless you press them for it because to them you are just another kid and they want you out of there as soon as possible so that they can move on to the next one.

Rockingham County Highschool is certainly an experience truly one the bathrooms are always full of kids smoking or vaping. Most if not all of the teachers are incompetent meaning they read off a powerpoint sit in a chair the whole class and talk in the same monotone voice and can't control their classes or they're always out and giving work to the subs without sending us the resources to do said work. Many of the teachers pick favorites and bully the other students. Other students bully you for being poor when you don't have an iPhone or fancy shoes. As a student with an IEP they don't care and I am never given the assistance needed and when I ask my teachers for help I'm told to 'figure it out' Many teachers insert their personal opinion into lessons and degrade others by doing it. The guidance counselors are a JOKE! the people who are supposed to help you with problems make those problems worse If you want your kid to become a stoner and have a nicotine addiction this is the place
Overall I rate Rockingham County High as great school for students to attend. They offer many extracurricular activities for students to get involved in such as Marching Band, History Club, HOSA, Battle of the Books, SADD, and many more. They are also very strong on keeping students safe with following all protocols when there are any signs of danger as well as keeping all parents up to date as things unfold. The teachers are effective, empathetic and set high standards for their students. They have been very helpful and supportive to all the students and parents and have always made themselves available when needed. I was very impressed with the college advisory team that was created to ensure the seniors were prepared for college and had all the tools and resources they needed to succeed. One opportunity that I would have for the school would be for their facility. In visiting the campus, the restrooms needed a lot of work. However, the rest of the campus looks great.
