Pretty nice place to be! If you're social the whole year will be a blast. If you need help most of the teachers are friendly enough to help you out! There's a lot of diversity and I learned about different cultures aswell. Don't really recommend taking AP classes unless you're already familiar with the topic or you know you're gonna ace it bc they will NOT let you drop it. Food is bad, bring your own lunch its life saving.

Growing up in Rockford Illinois is not easy, we are basically a suburb of Chicago but we do not get funding from that city. We are our own city. A city with a high unemployment rate, low public school performance, and many citizens are living at a poverty level. With all that in mind, attending Rockford East was not the best experience because students do not behave in class, fighting causes a lot of disruption for those who want to learn, like me. Although there is a lot of wasted talent, this school did toughen me up, I learned to identify a good academic route compared to a route of a dropout and that is very significant to me. This kind of experience is not one you would at a safe private school.
Attending was an experience that I did not expect at all. I always heard bad stories of what happened, but I believe the years I attended there were great. I was involved in sports and tried to participate in as many school activities/events as I could. If I could give the best advice about school in general it would be: "Make the most out of the final years of education whether it is getting yourself involved at events or even just attending them because you only get to live it once."
