Rockford Christian Schools Reviews

I have been a student at Rockford Christian since pre-K 3. During my time here, I have made many amazing friends, and have had the privilege of being taught by many amazing teachers. I am a very math and science oriented student. This year, our Science Olympiad, FTC Robotics, and ICTM Math teams all advanced to state, winning several awards. Being a part of these teams was an amazing opportunity to pursue my interests outside of the classroom. I have also been on the Bass Fishing, Rocketry, and Scholastic Bowl teams, and have had a lot of fun in those. There are opportunities to serve in the student council, NHS, and Key Club, and our athletic teams always succeed in their competitions. I was on the swim team for four years, and made many of my best friends that way. In the Fall, I will be attending Duke University. I was also accepted to Northwestern and was offered a full ride to two other institutions. RCS prepared me well for college, and I am excited for what is to come!
I have attended Rockford Christian School for seven years. One thing that has really stuck out to me is the faculty. The teachers are able to establish relationships with the students, and they care for more than just the academic side of your life. The other students are compassionate and friendly- never letting anyone sit alone. The food is better than average and the lunch staff are very friendly. I feel like they hold students to high academic and moral standards that prepare them for success. Also, I love that it is a place where I can freely express my faith and pray in class while also allowed to have my own opinions. They have many sports and a few clubs. The cross country, track, science olympiad, and key club were all great experiences for me.However, the main drawbacks are the price and the lack of diversity. The tuition is quite expensive and not very affordable for most. In summary, it can be a great school for the right fit.
My experience here has been short, but in the two years I've been here students have been coming for the Fine Art Department and loving everything about it while not getting much out of other studies and others dropping out because they believe they are not getting their money's worth out of the school. The teachers here are great and truly make it their top priority to help each student individually. This school has its ups and downs and sometimes the negatives really show through, for example, the lack of teachers. The college preparation is very good as we have "College Fair' where colleges come and present themselves and students can look at see what they have to offer to them. Our math, science, and technology department is great with plenty of amazing clubs to chose from in that field. I love this school and would prefer to come here over the public schools in the surrounding area.
