I have enjoyed my time at RICS, and have met lots of amazing teachers and students! It was difficult during the pandemic, however everyone has adapted well. I enjoy all of the different opportunities for students to get involved. There is a place for everyone at Riverwood.
The teachers and staff are excellent. There have only been a few teachers to get a bad wrap, but most are absolutely wonderful. The athletics program is led beautifully and it's always a blast being either a participant in an athletic program or a spectator. Riverwood has an incredibly diverse population of students and you're sure to fit in somewhere. The IB program and abundance of class choices will inspire you to do great in the classroom, and endless opportunities to join clubs and participate in activities will help you grow outside the classroom as well. With two brand new buildings, the environment is of course wonderful. I've thoroughly enjoyed my high school experience at Riverwood, my only issue is that our fans don't stay through the entirety of a football game, school spirit runs out after the first half.
I used to attend a Private Jewish school, so attending Riverwood was a major social change for me. I had an amazing first year as a freshmen and have had awesome teachers in my years there. There’s been times where I was surprised with the things going on, such as bullying or use of inappropriate items, but for the most part, they did a great job maintaining a fun and safe environment for their students. This year, many teachers left and I had substitute teachers for almost all my classes and was barely able to learn anything. They had random substitutes in and out so they didn’t have assignments to give. Besides that, I’ve had a great experience at Riverwood.
