The only good thing I can say is that it's a small school. A few of the teachers are absolutely amazing. The administration however, is incredibly disappointing. From their lack of support, to their empty promises, to their unavailability, it makes me wonder how this could be considered a choice school. The current principal transferred in from a failing school. Since her take over, we have lost valuable teachers, the entire office staff, a sizeable amount of students, and many programs (including PTA) are in the process of leaving. I'm surprised the school board has not taken notice of everything that has been happening here. Or, they could care less about this school as well. Makes you wonder why the decision to send the principal from a failing school into a choice school was made.

I dread taking my children to this school, thankfully they have great teachers. Administration is ruining this school. We have lost teachers, nurses and several office clerks, screctaries, and a librarian along with students transferring. The front office are cold, rude and very unwelcoming they are always in a huff when they have to assist a parent or child. The principal Dickerson, will not return calls and avoids parents. It's sad to see and say how administration has the power to break or make a school. This administration is hurting our students by failing to meet their needs by not fulfilling school events which in turn may dissolve the PTA especially by not fulfilling the need of a teacher in the place of a substitute for the past year. Parent teacher involvement has dropped significantly to nearly none. This school needs a new principal, a true leader who is compassionate, caring and involved along with a new secretary and clerk.
RALC is not what it use to be. We have an admin that lacks in support and fails to properly lead. The principal has caused a great divide. The office staff is incompetent! The PTA is trying to dissolve for a second time. Students are transferring, teachers are leaving. 2nd grade has had a substitute since last year and the kid are suffering because of it. I heard the principal was sent from a failing school! She is taking this "choice" school down and no one is doing anything about it! The only thing parents know to do is transfer their kids out. This use to be such an amazing school! The asst principal use to be so helpful and open to ideas to help the school but that has changed, seems the principal has beaten him down and everything has to go through her yet it takes weeks to get approval! Even my child has mentioned this school has changed since Valdez left. BRING VALDEZ BACK!!!
