I like how Rivers Edge understands that not every student is the same and they are willing to work with difficult schedules. I hope to see better funding for Rivers Edge in the future.

The teachers and administrators genuinely want you to succeed. They are interested and invested in who you are, what you're going through, what you want to do/be and get excited about helping you achieve your goals. Their job is made easier by the application process to attend here that includes a student essay detailing why you think they should let you go to River's Edge. Students come from all kinds of home/family situations and carry numerous and varied burdens but the one thing they ALL have in common is that they WANT to be here and it shows. There are separate programs for students with lives that require more time outside the classroom due to work, kids, and other commitments. One of the many ways they strive to make finishing high school a possibility for everyone. This school lives up to its motto, "Welcome to paradise, where learning is fun, and fun is learning."
The school's clean, not in the best shape, but it''s pretty old. The air conditioning and heating works, the bathrooms are well maintained. We have a computer lab and Smartboards, no windows 8, but we're not using floppy disks or overhead projectors either. The counselor is nice and helpful, there's only one but it's a small school so that's enough. All the teachers get involved with college prep, talking about different majors, organizing campus visits. The teachers are always available for tutoring. Most kids take the city bus, but some drive.
