I have been a parent of a Rivermont elementary student and a middle school student. I love the attention my children receive from their teachers and others at the school. I believe the teachers are always placing my children's interest and potential at the top of their priorities. It is so nice to know that the teachers are making sure my children are LEARNING the material, rather than prepping for another standardized test like the public schools. I also love the incredibly safe community I feel at Rivermont. The public schools my children would attend if they were not at Rivermont have already had lock downs, including a 12 year old bringing a gun to school! If Rivermont were not in existence, I would move out of the area as I would not send my kids to any of the other schools in the Quad Cities (public or private). It is true the school lacks in sports, but I believe an education is far greater than school sports.

My child has just finished his fifth year at Rivermont Collegiate, and I couldn't be happier with either the experience or the education he is receiving. As a university professor, I greatly appreciate the skills that my son has developed since he started Rivermont as a grade-school student. From public speaking to Rivermont's Academic and Tech Fairs he and his friends have been able to deep-dive into a variety of subjects, as well as experience them hands-on through numerous learning opportunities. This will only be enhanced by the STEAM building that Rivermont is constructing. Beyond learning how to effectively take in and retain the material they are taught, my son and his classmates are encouraged to create new and innovative ideas. They will begin university with an intellectual and study-skills toolkit that many undergrads spend their entire time at college building. I cannot recommend this school highly enough.
While a small, non-public school may not be the right place for every student, many students thrive in such a community. I am very pleased with the education my children are receiving at RIvermont. In the high school my children have learned to advocate for themselves and to manage time wisely between homework and extracurriculars. The classes are challenging; the teachers supportive. In the middle school, students have the structure and support they need.

My children are encouraged to rise to meet the expectations set by their teachers - the expectations are not lowered. I am happy to see the school investing in the new STEAM center; it is an investment in their futures. I am happy my children are able to attend a school which values diversity on many levels. I am confident RVMT is preparing them for college. They are becoming creative and Independent critical thinkers, thoughtful and deliberate writers, and well rounded and conscientious citizens.
