Riverhead Senior High School Reviews
Rating 3.65 out of 5 206 reviews
There are many teachers and people who are willing to help you succeed, including many advanced programs. There is a very diverse amount of people within the high school, including international students and teachers. My worst experience there in the past and currently are the bathrooms. Basically drug dens, but from what I’ve heard, that is commonplace. Very good school overall, especially if academically motivated.
This school has very good opportunities in regard to their curriculum (lots of AP courses and college affiliated ones). They have good science, math, and literature teachers. I'd like to put an emphasis on the quality of the teachers as they take the time to sit down with you and review any questions. The guidance counselors are also very sweet and considerate. I will say, however, there is lack of proper leadership within the district. This has led to the student body not respecting the administration and a huge social separation between them. Often, no pleasantries are even spoken between them, and many students do not listen to orders. The main drawback of this school is the course work/load and social atmosphere. Many teachers accidentally have tests on the same days--especially before break and this situation can cause a lot of unnecessary stress. However, I would assume this to be true for most schools. There is a large social separation between students too (can be cliquey).
For the most part, great teachers who genuinely care about you as a person, and want you to succeed. The wealth of clubs to join is also a plus. It is a bit overcrowded and fights do happen often, so I would like safety to be improved. The community is really nice, and make you feel like a part of it.
