River Valley High School, the high school of failures. Not only did River Valley not prepare me for life out of high school, but it also striped away any of the "high school" activities any of the other high schools in the area got to enjoy. Pep rallies, dances, senior trips, etc., etc., etc. were taken away and restricted without reasoning. Dust Devil pride, or any other pride in general was discouraged in all aspects. I would not recommend River Valley high school to even my worst enemy. Every young adult deserves to go to a high school where education, pride, and their well being is well fought for and encouraged. Not only this, but River Valley high school was disrespected even throughout their graduation ceremony. During the 2019 commencement ceremony, the School Board president texted throughout the entire ceremony right behind the students giving speeches and celebrating their achievements. An absolute disgrace!

River Valley High School can best be described as trying their best with what they have.
River Valley is stripped for teachers and staff, so activities are limited. Clubs such as a GSA are nonexistent, so diverse groups of people do not necessarily get the support and community they need. Furthermore, there is a lack of morale and motivation at the school; a lack of school spirit. School uniforms are still required and any bullying situations are often dismissed.
However, there are some teachers at River Valley that are currently trying to make a difference. This is what has made it all bearable for me, personally. We do have clubs for different activities and the classes, for the most part, are fulfilling and challenging.
The reason I love attending River Valley is because of the friendly environment. River valley is a really small school, about 450 students and everyone there is so welcoming and friendly. River Valley was a new school to me, I only knew one person there and I was very scared coming in as a freshman. Right away I made many friends even with the upperclassman. Also our school Spirit is insane. As a senior now one thing that I would change about River Valley is our dress code.
