This is an amazing school!! My son excels in math, the public school system provided the options to keep him on the curriculum for his age or push him up a level. We knew it was best for him to stay with his peers, but we needed to keep challenging his development. Rivendell was the solution!! They individualize your student's education. Kids work at their own pace on their own curriculum, but in small sized classes; they can be a kindergartner doing kindergarten level reading and 2nd grade math (or any combination). I would (and have) recommend this school to anyone trying to find to meet their kid's individualized needs. AMAZING educational experience!!!

I have worked as a substitute teacher in many schools in the Poudre School District. Rivendell is the most personalized approach to learning I have seen. Each student is well known by all the teachers, not just his or her classroom teacher. Students are taught one on one for reading and math and all other topics are tailored to their level of understanding. There are no grades, to students keep working and making corrections until the concept is solidly in their grasp. The best part of Rivendell though, is the close-knit community. The children take care of each other and really look out for those younger than them. It's such a unique culture that isn't found anywhere else.
Rivendell School is the only independent elementary school in Northern Colorado. Every student has a personalized education plan based on his/her unique needs and learning style. Multi-age classrooms encourage leadership and cooperative learning. At Rivendell, a student can be advanced in one subject area (or many) and still be in classrooms with their peers. A child's social and emotional developement is as important to the staff as academic development. Rivendell school is a family oriented school with small class sizes.
