Rio Mesa offers great opportunities, such as IB classes but there are few AP classes other than the typical. The higher-level classes offer students a change to take a more challenging pace and help develop critical thinking! Amazing teachers, majority care about you understanding the material than just passing the class.

I like Rio Mesa High School because it is a very open and welcoming community. Both teachers and students are social and easy to know. There are always club and sports events to go to during and after school, as well as on weekends! Teachers, faculty, and staff are always around talking with students and giving advice.
Overall, Rio Mesa in my unbiased opinion is the best in many aspects. It is the only school in the Oxnard school district with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program. Much more intense than the Advanced Placement (AP) program, IB offers a diverse education that students are learning at the same pace. Students have the option to take IB courses starting their junior year, which they can also choose to become an IB Diploma candidate. Being a candidate and now a Diploma awardee, students are required to take on other coursework besides classes that actually brings new perspectives and creates a strong bond between students. I received college credit with this and would not have done it any other way.
