Riley High school was a great school. The Principle Mr. Henderson cares about students and works on and off the clock to assure that we succeed. The engineering program is great. I really enjoyed Mr. Ponder. He was my teacher and really encouraged and motivated the students. The athletic program is run like a family. The football coach, Coach Lee invests in the kids and has a team that cares about the entire person not just the athletic elements. The school has a great spirit our activities are fun. We have a very talented group of teachers and plenty of afterschool activities.
Riley High school is a decent school with a great principal. Although the flaws of Riley stand out a lot more than the positive components. The school isn’t very clean. There are roaches and mice, hairballs in the bathrooms, etc. Some students have little respect for the school and staff. There is a major lack of discipline at Riley and really the whole corporation as well. Students are wandering the halls and vaping. When a new rule is made no one takes it seriously because students know it won’t be enforced.
I've had a great experience at Riley. I've had great teachers who have helped and an encouraged me day in and day out. We also have an amazing principal that goes above and beyond to get to know all of his students. He genuinely wants the best for each of his students.
Riley is a magnet school and had a computer science and engineering program. It's an amazing program, certified through Project Lead The Way (PLTW). We have amazing magnet teachers who know what they're talking and teaching about, making engineering and computer science extremely cool and inclusive.
While at Riley I've been able to figure out what I want to do for a living, which is cello performance.
I've also meet amazing people and have made great friends. I always have a group of people that I know I can turn to and depend on. We're always there for each other, whether it be on personal matters or a difficult AP chem question.
Overall, I've had an amazing experience at Riley and am glad I chose the school.
