During my time at RHHS, I enjoyed a multitude of things! Throughout my experience at RHHS, I consistently had caring teachers who went above and beyond to help me succeed in my classes. I was able to take multiple honors courses at RHHS and was even encouraged to take AP classes by my teachers as well. Tutoring was offered by all of my teachers which made getting help after school very easy. RHHS has unmatched school spirit given the small town it is in making sports, especially football, a big deal. Getting involved at RHHS was very easy too, as they had multiple clubs and honor societies to join and participate in! In addition to the standard core classes (Math, ELA, Science, and Social Studies), RHHS also offered various pathways such as Healthcare Science, Engineering, etc. The classes within the pathways allowed me to explore interests and gave me an insight into what I would want for my future career! Overall, RHHS gave me the best ideal high school experience in every way!
This school varies a great deal when it comes to student culture. However, in my experience, the best groups of students are in the arts programs. This is where you will find the most supportive people. I have experience in both the theatre and band program and both have exemplary students. The band has many accolades including multiply grand championships as well as best out of state band in San Antonio's Fiesta Flambeau. The academics are very competitive and the school offers many AP classes. The vast majority of teachers are more than willing to stay after and help you to understand the material . Overall, the school is a great experience and has a particularly good arts department.
The environment is really gloomy. When you have a mental breakdown, they send you to a trailer for the rest of the day. Admin doesn't do anything about harassment. Administration and teachers can't give some students what they need because the school is overcrowded. Lunch is barely edible. More than half of the entire school is homophobic or racist. I've personally had threats and the teachers haven't done anything about it. Overall not great for people like me with mental/sensory issues because we can't get the help we need here. It's pretty much every man for themselves. Pros? If you don't need help, the curriculum is okay and the teachers are average, plus there are many opportunities for classes. But, drugs are a problem here and there are many things they don't tell you about.
