Honestly, I think it's an amazing school because of its rigorous courses, friendly environment, and opportunities. It's a really diverse school so I meet people from all different backgrounds! My favorite part of it is the IB program. Though it has caused me a great amount of stress, it's allowed me to meet people from different middle schools (otherwise, if I weren't in the IB program, I would be stuck with the same kids I've been with for years--there is only one middle school that feeds into RMHS). Plus, these kids in the program are genuinely the most hardworking and real people I've met. One thing I'd like to see change is true implementation of the "no homework weekends." Many teachers try to go around it by assigning work to be due on Tuesday. As a member of the IB program, where I see so many kids struggling and persevering in their studies, I would appreciate true implementation of these stress-free weekends.

I have been a student at Richard Montgomery High School for almost three years and I love this school so much! It is so well-rounded, in terms of its diversity of academic courses, extracurriculars and students that attend the school. The school provides the IB Magnet courses, AP courses, Honors classes and on-level classes. Most of the teachers are very helpful, welcoming and always willing to offer extra aid and review. There are hundreds of extracurriculars available to the students, which are presented to the students at the club fair in the beginning of the year. Finally, the school spirit at RM is unmatched, with great participation during spirit weeks, sports games and every day, all the time.
Richard Montgomery High School is an amazing place to be a student. It has excellent academic courses (for example the International Baccalaureate Program) as well as great sports programs. The teachers and Administrators genuinely care about each student and their overall success in school and life. The culture is incredibly welcoming and light hearted, with everyone being supportive and being able to find friends easily. My experience at Richard Montgomery has been great! One thing I would like to see improve in the school is more mixture between kids in IB and not in IB, which works pretty well for people in sports/activities but in classes and school events it is difficult for kids to interact with IB/ non- IB classes. Overall Richard Montgomery is one of the best High Schools to attend in MCPS both academically and Socially.
