My High School experience at Richard Montgomery High school was good but not great. I had some good and dedicated teachers and made some friends. I enjoyed participating in their sports program and the exposure it gave me. However, there are a lot of areas that can be improved. For instance, I often felt that I was attending school just to take tests. The focus was not on making sure that the students understood the course work it was all about completion of the assignments - no one really checked to see if homework was correct or not. Often times the teachers would have students correct the homework assignment. There were also too much fighting in the school which was very distracting. The school has great facilities but management need to take a more serious approach and focus more on substance. Ensure that when each student leave or graduate from RM, they leave there with pride, knowledge and respect for themselves and others.

RM is truly a diverse and amazing school. There are a wide variety of classes for a variety of students, I personally really loved the math and science parts and took many of those classes. The teachers all seem to genuinely want students to succeed, the school can afford good materials and supplies (although the art department sometimes runs out of paint), and the students and staff are non judgemental. I am trans, and this school accommodates a preferred name and preferred pronouns, as well as letting you use the nurse's office for bathroom and locker room stuff. It's a bit of a hassle since that is the only bathroom and its out of the way from a lot of the classrooms, but it is manageable. Overall, I loved this school and learned a lot from the experience.
For 9th and 10th grade, I was part of the MYP Program, and for 11th and 12th I was enrolled in the IB program. Richard Montgomery offers a wide selection of courses all taught by the most qualified and enthusiastic teachers. No matter what program you participate in, you are sure to get a high quality learning experience. Students and staff alike are incredibly passionate about academics, extracurriculars, and simply connecting with each other.
