The community found at Repertory Company High School is, by far, the closest thing to a family a student can experience outside of their own home! The seemingly 'unconventional' high school environment that comes with the territory of being located in 42nd/Times Square and in the building of Town Hall allows students to learn of independence and initiative, as well as the diversity and very flourishing culture of NYC. This school is equipped to educate and train those that are serious about pursuing the arts as a career after graduating and inspire those that are just curious or interested in the concept of performing. The possibilities here are truly endless and the best part is that there are no restrictions or limitations put on students as they travel on their own artistic journey.

What I loved about Repertory was its size. It's small size allows for close relationships to be made not only between students but also between teachers and students. I also loved the theatre program and how there is a piece of theatre for everyone: backstage, onstage, dance, acting, singing, writing, producing, directing, etc. However, Repertory can work on its academics, including teachers and supplies. Teachers are in and out, and the school struggles to find teachers to stay as a teacher for one class, leaving the students at a disadvantage. The school right now doesn't have working laptops for all the students. Though there are a lot of physical laptops, they are almost always broken, dead with no charger, missing keys, not connecting to the internet, etc.
I attended Repertory during my freshman year of high school. I walked into an array of artist; dancers, actors and musicians all welcoming me with open arms. The students at Repertory make the experience of attending the school unforgettable. The teachers make themselves available in the mornings, during lunch and after school to assist students who request additional help with their studies. The productions that the faculty and students work closely together to organize are phenomenal. Repertory does allow their students to find their artistic footing while pushing their students to reach their full potential in the arts. Their methods of teaching in classes such as music, dance and acting prepares these students for the world of theater. At Repertory, you have the chance to make your experience ordinary or extraordinary. It's solely up to you.
