My experience at my school was amazing, It's honestly a great environment for kids like me to get the free opportunity to learn how to sing, act and dance. It's very diverse with all cultures. We recently added 3 new classes to our school like Black Studies, College Math, and College Writing. Preparing us for the real world that's out there for us besides just HighSchool. This is very good to have in schools because we get that advantage to be different!
Now Rep has helped me create memories and learn. But it could be better. I lost 2 years of my experience because of the pandemic, but things were not how I expected in my last year. I expected fun for being a senior and new things the school had to offer, but everything was late, they had no idea what to do and policies created conflicts. What can I can say is it's been a rough year and I would like to see a change. But rep will forever have a place in my heart because despite the problems us students awys had a solution.
When I applied for Repertory Company High School For Theater Arts during the high school application process, I wasn't fully aware of the opportunities and programs Repertory offers. As a new member of the dance community, the only schools I personally knew that offered strictly dance was Laguardia High school, Talent Unlimited, Frank Sinatra, and PPAS. However repertory although being a school that challenges you in all three areas of performing arts, it gave something more than performing arts training. It provided me with a home that doesn't judge based off race, gender, sexuality, religion, and beliefs. It also opened my eyes to other forms of theater or art, like technical theater or set design. Repertory is a great place to be if you like small schools that are small enough to know everybody's name, have really close relationships with teachers, and get the 1 on 1 attention you desire.
