Renaissance High School for the Arts is a small arts school located in an amazing city with amazing opportunities. The small student body and the caring teachers build a community giving students a safe space where they may express themselves in many ways. Knowing this, Renaissance faculty and family gives many opportunities for the expression of students such as an themed arts immersed open house and events like Halloween festivals where students are allowed and encouraged to go all out and show their love for the art. Not only are students surrounded by artists in the school, they are surrounded by the art outside as well. RHSA is located in the arts district of Long Beach making many forms of art freely accessible and just down the street. Renaissance's tight knit community and experienced teachers gives students the opportunity to learn and grow in their respective fields, while also giving them marvelous opportunities and preparing them for their futures as artists.
I am currently a senior at Renaissance high school for the arts. Renaissance is a great school that has a variety of art departments such as music, dance, drawing and painting, digital art, theater, choir, vocal jazz and much much more! The school is filled with diversity and offers a ton of opportunities. My art is music and it has opened doors and opportunities for me as it has for many other students. Renaissance also has amazing coaches and teachers in the art department that provide us with tools and resources to make sure we succeed in both our art and academic classes. My experience has been amazing, I have been involved in so many musical opportunities including musicals and concerts. Renaissance has allowed me to come out of my shell and has helped me become a better musician.
The community here is absolutely beautiful and we are like a family among the senior and junior classes. I really have enjoyed my time here at Renaissance, and although I am sad to go, I am grateful for my time here. The teachers are so amazing and literally deserve the world. The only thing I would possibly change is the classes offered here. I’d only suggest coming here if youre 70% to 90% sure that you’d like to pursue arts as career, because otherwise you will find yourself feeling lost and perhaps out of place among other students.
