They have a very good Music and Modern Dance focus. However, because so much of everyone's time is spent on Music and Dance the student's academics really suffer for it. There are no midterms or finals, and there is no academic homework. Because there are no midterms, finals or any tests besides state testing, the way they give their students their GPA's are from how advanced the principles theink they are.
The math and science subjects are combined which they call "SMATH", which leaves the students unprepared for science and math college classes.
The Humanities classes are not organized well, the students write multiple essays per year. However, the only way students get constructive criticism on their essays is from fellow students ranging anywhere from 6th graders to 12th graders.
Overall this leaves their students woefully unprepared for college Math, Science, and English classes. However, they do have some music and dance training when they leave.

Renaissance Arts Academy is a k-12 school with an immersive, autonomous scholarship based program that focuses on the immersion of the arts and academics. It is a performing art public school that focuses on teaching how to learn and think critically.
Renaissance Arts Academy is very different than traditional high schools. It is much smaller, no field, no sports, etc. It is a performing arts school and every year we do 2-3 shows. The majors are violin, viola, cello, bass, or dance. Though it is an arts school we still have the same traditional academics but, not with textbooks on a daily basis. There are after school conservatory programs that are required and free. They are orchestra, percussion, acapella, and art.

I would definitely choose this school again because of its diversity and uniqueness within traditional schools.
