Regina Luminis Academy Reviews
Rating 4.4 out of 5 5 reviews
I had been introduced to the classical learning method employed by Regina Luminis at a young age, in 1st - 3rd grade at one of its sister schools, Regina Angelourum in Ardmore, PA. After leaving, I was bounced around various other curriculums, but I was not content. All of my classes seemed static and compartmentalized, and I felt I was actually learning very little. RLA provided this much-needed coherence; I was shown how interwoven and engaging my many subjects were. The operative word there is "shown:" I was not being force-fed information to simply regurgitate it onto a test. I was shown not what to think, but how. How to reason and through reason, to grow in my intellectual prowess. A truly unique and wonderful institution, located centrally on the Main Line of PA.
Really amazing school, everything not great about it (lack of extracurriculars, very small student number) is made up for by the people and the community.
Regina Lumenis Academy is a very good school for academics. They rigorously instruct you in classical math, literature, history, and science. In the sports department however, they lacked choice. Also there was little diversity within the school though the students and faculty were open to people of all racial and ethnic backgrounds. It was a very good atmosphere in which to be educated. If I could change anything about it, I would make it so there is more variety in clubs and activities as well as sports.
