From Kindergarten onward, I have always felt connected to my classmates. Reedy fosters those connections and relationships, whether that be with a coach or a lunch lady. I have learned so many valuable life skills along with my education. Additionally, the teachers express a sense of understanding toward the students. I love how the school is run and the sense of belonging that comes with it!
I am an 11th grade student attending Reedy High School. In my two and a half years of attending Reedy High School, I have seen the pros and cons of the school. First off, I love and appreciate the diversity that the school has. That allows for a more creative and successful environment and helps create a more comfortable surrounding. Moreover, I absolutely admire all the teachers at the school that take time out of their day to help out students in need of extra practice or help. The school is a very friendly environment with amazing people! Something that I would change about the school would be its limitations on more life skill classes. As students graduate high school, they are expected to know how to pay taxes, learn time management, and overall know basic adulthood skills. However, as the school is very curriculum oriented, it sometimes fails to provide these life skills that should be taught.
As a part of FISD, Reedy is a very good school in terms of academics and continuously pushes their students to achieve greatness within their specific field. With a plethora of electives and opportunities through near by colleges there is no shortage of activities. Only complaint is their lack of transparency to students and parents. When given a choice between maintaining an appearance or helping students in crisis, the administration will choose appearance and haphazardly help students in need. Teachers, overall, are very good and dedicated to their work; shout outs to Mr. Platt for APES and Mr. Catrette for AP Literature.
