I was part of the first class to attend Reedy High School all four years as it was a brand new high school that opened in 2015. Overall, it was a good experience, but the school ultimately lacked school spirit or student passion. The school was extremely divided, it was either Ivy League-hopefuls or burnouts. For a school that is the wealthiest out of all the Frisco ISD schools, the students lacked the potential to match their resources. The academics and teachers are very good, every student has the opportunity for an excellent education, so long as they choose it (which most didn't). Despite its shortcomings, paving the way for future generations at Reedy was a unique opportunity.
The academics at Reedy are wildly competitive. Especially during junior year, students are cut-throat about their grades. The courses are rigorous and engaging when they are higher level, but regular classes tend to lack depth and meaning. Pertaining to extracirriculars, Reedy has phenomenal sports programs that have been widely successful in the last three years. A number of teams have competed at the state level. The layout of the school is difficult to learn and there is a shortage of stairs which is problematic. The parking lot can be a nightmare to navigate, especially right when school gets out. Socially, Reedy is notorious for having cliques. An unspoken social heirarchy is definitely in place and it is seldom broken. Even though some groups are exclusive, there are many kind students who would love make new friends. Overall, Reedy is a great school to be at and I feel like I have a solid general education to start me off for college.
