Redwood Day School is a small private school in the heart of Oakland. It's an amazing place with a beautiful campus, highly dedicated staff and engaged parent/guardian community. My children have been able to thrive here despite having very different needs and personalities. The school cares a lot about the intentional deliverance of education, and is very focused on preparing students for the future. Themes of diversity, self-advocacy and respect resonate.

I attended Redwood Day from the 6th grade until the 8th grade. There is nothing I would change about my experience here. The facilities are fantastic, the students are kind and inquisitive, and the teachers are excellent. I always knew that my teachers wanted me to succeed and that was the most profound encouragement I have ever received. I will always remember my time at Redwood Day very fondly, especially art classes with Mr. Oding.
When we began to investigate private schools in the bay area, we felt compelled to visit as many as possible. The first school we visited was Redwood Day. As soon as we got into the car, my husband said the search was over. He, willingly or not so willingly, tagged along as I dragged us to other schools to dot the i's and cross the t's. After each visit our desire was solidified, Redwood Day was the right choice. Genuine is the first word that comes to mind. While interviewing teachers and administrators, the vision & focus of the school were incredibly consistent. They were not regurgitating the school mission statement, rather they provided a personal perspective. It was part of their own identity and value system. Secondly, I was impressed by the focus on social & emotional development. We knew our children would be safe, cared for, and prosper at Redwood Day. It has been 4 years (both of our boys at Redwood Day) and it continues to be everything we want for our family.
