Redlands Senior High School Reviews
Rating 3.87 out of 5 816 reviews
I believe Redlands High School has a very safe, inclusive, and a generally positive environment. One of the best resources on campus, the teachers here are excellent, and many go above and beyond to ensure that students properly understand the material. Specifically, the advanced math and science class teachers are always willing to provide additional resources for struggling students, go over topics multiple times, and are forgiving and willing to listen to students if they need something specific. Though there tends to be pressure to succeed, students hardly discuss personal test scores, statistics, or any information which could be used to "rank" a student. On the other hand, there have been multiple issues with students vaping in the restrooms or being involved in on-campus fights. Especially amongst the underclassmen, there is a frequent smell of marijuana in the restrooms, certain types of vandalism, and (though not as frequent) fights between students or groups of students.
Looking back on my high school years, I can't deny that there were moments of adversity due to the color of my skin. Racism, unfortunately, reared its ugly head at times, making my journey more challenging. However, despite these setbacks, I have come to realize that my high school experience was much more than just the negative encounters. It was a place where I discovered my passions, formed lifelong friendships, and received an education that shaped my future. The warmth and support I received from certain teachers, classmates, and staff members made all the difference. Their unwavering encouragement empowered me to rise above the prejudice and excel in my endeavors. While I acknowledge the existence of racism, I also cherish the positive memories and the growth I experienced at my old high school. What I would like to see change is how they handle matters regarding racial issues like certain students saying racist things and not being punished, or racial profiling among security.
The teachers ranged from great to unbelievable in terms of helping us learn. I had a few AP teachers and they all did very well in providing materials to help study and are encouraging and welcoming to be questioned.
A few of my friends were in the HEART Academy. It's geared to students interested to be in a medical field. The teachers are okay except for one. She is responsible for teaching Medical Assisting but is forgetful, undisciplined, and should be retired at this point. She teaches the class for three years but for the certification test only two out of 50 students passed.
There are all kinds of students and cliques at RHS. Most students are pleasant but there are a few people that brought the school's reputation down because of fights, drugs, and alcohol. These people are easily avoidable if students don't hang around the crowd or connections to them. Still, there are high achievers, geniuses, student athletes at the school that are intelligent, friendly, and sociable.
