Red Wing High School has highly effective teachers who are very knowledgeable about the subjects they teach. They care about their students and try to help out when they can. The guidance counselors office is hard working and are always their to lend a helping hand. College readiness classes and PSEO opportunities help students learn about what the future holds.
Pretty much just your average high school. There are some great teachers but there are also some teachers that don't give a ton of effort in their class. This is reflected in the students as well. The school has some great programs such as band and choir, but is lacking in certain sports that can't win against other schools in the conference.
I have been attending Red Wing High School for five years, and I would say that is the best school I have been to throughout my educational career. The teachers and staff are some of the best people I have ever met and they are there every day to make you smile and want to learn. I wouldn't change anything about this school, it is literally the best!
Overall, I've had a decent time attending school here. However, in recent years, the changes made to the schedule and the school rules have really negatively impacted my experience. With backpacks not being allowed it has been more stressful and add that on top of losing our advisory time, it's just been a bit rough. I really enjoyed the way it was in my first year here, but it's just been going downhill since then, at least in my opinion.
I liked how supportive the teachers were. I would like to see more of a variety in electives they got hard to not repeat things as you get into the higher grades because there were only so many you can take without prerequisites. I also would like to see the juniors and seniors have more opportunities to explore possible career fields before graduating.
I enjoyed the cross country and track programs at Red Wing High School. These programs really challenged me and helped me grow as a person. I love the small town feel of this school, and the smaller school size helps me to better know and grow my relationships with my teachers.
I like the set up of the daily schedule, it is certainly out of the ordinary compared to most school setups. We have a daily block schedule that provides more time for learning in our core classes, extra curricular classes, and science courses where we may be doing a lab that takes up a good chunk of time. Having the class every other day provides a good way to communicate with your teachers when you are gone, makeup tests/quizzes, and get homework done right away. Many adults in the community view this setup as a bad idea, but I speak for the majority of students at Red Wing High School when I say it is a good fit for the current student body.
I would like student input to be taken into account more. I would like to see greater diversity, and a more universal acceptance of students in general.
Fellow students were great for the most part. Administration felt in was necessary to punish the entire student body for 5% of the students that caused the problems.
Every teacher I came in contact with were always helpful and willing to listen. If you had a subject that was more difficult for you, the teacher would quietly talk to you about it and offer you the help and tools you need to be successful in their class.
There is a lot of pressure to go to college and that if you do not you won't succeed and that is not true.
Red Wing Senior High is overall a good school with caring staff, but they can be lacking at times. The class choices are plentiful and most teachers are genuinely concerned with the well-being of students and their success in schooling. However, as with a lot of high schools, there are a lot of social issues. Things such as bullying, drug use, poor mental health, and staff’s ease of ability to turn a blind eye to these situations that can be helped sometimes makes it a not-so-great environment. I also feel what little they tried to do to prepare us for college hasn’t done much.
Red Wing Senior High School is a place where hometown pride grows with its people. This school glows with enthusiasm for life, through diverse athletics and activities. Creativity is one of the most influential concepts within this school, through its thriving art and music community, its theatre and dance programs, and even the student-led "dress-up days."
Red Wing High School is a school that is very inclusive. My brother has autism, and I feel as if the special education department works very hard to make sure all kids are part of every event. The student body has wonderful school spirit and it feels good to be a part of it all. I'm a senior this year and I'm trying to enjoy all of the "lasts". "Once a Winger, Always a Winger!"
I like the courses offered at this school. The choices you can make allow you to explore things you are interested in. There needs to be more diversity in the types of clubs you can join. And the teachers seriously need to be evaluated more.
I'm a sophomore at Red Wing high school and so far my experience has been pretty positive. I don't feel very ready to go to college but no one my age is. We have good academics and teachers but we don't have a big enough budget for everyone to be happy. I love my school and if I could I could do my life all over again I would defiantly go to Red Wing High school.
I like the way that they have classroom pods and there are always teachers around so I there is rarely any bullying. I also really enjoy the block schedule and all the teachers are super nice and just want to see you succeed. I don't think I would change anything in the school. Everything and everyone is fun and super nice.
