At Red Hook High School, there are a ton of options for students to pursue academically and extracurricularly. When school was in person, we had some great traditions and I have to say my favorite would be Senior Auction where the seniors get "purchased" for the day to raise money for their class. There are some great costumes and skits! Some other pluses include the accommodating administration and the many resources for college readiness. As in many other high schools, there has been a phone overuse problem in the past, but generally, being a student at Red Hook High School is a good experience.
Red Hook High School is a great place to go, and if you pay attention and take advantages of the opportunities it provides, you can learn a lot. Every year student council takes members to a leadership conference (hosted by NYSCLSA) that provides students an opportunity to learn all about maximizing their abilities in leadership to make their school a better place,
In Red Hook High School I got to meet many new friends, learn from multiple new teachers, and have a good time. Red Hook High. School has many sports teams in which you can participate in. All of the teachers are positive, has working, and love seeing their students succeed.
I like that since we are a small school, everyone can get involved in some way. Some students don't always want to get involved in certain things which makes some activities and events frustrating. The teachers are very good, and the faculty are very welcoming of everybody. I would change how certain school-wide situations are handled like eating lunch outside, and the parking changes, as well as some issues with unfairness in certain athletics.
Red Hook High School is a great place to attend high school. RHHS gives its students academic opportunities that many other high schools do not offer. For example, AP and IB classes. These classes challenge students to reach their full potential. These classes along with many supportive teachers help prepare students for college level classes and work load. Also, there are many extra curricular activities for students at RHHS to get involved in. Between Student Council, Environmental Club and Yearbook Club, there are many opportunities for students to get involved in the school community.
Red Hook High School is a great place to grow up. The teachers there are very knowledgeable and always help you if you need it. I really enjoy the atmosphere there. You are always placed in your correct classes and your classmates all have the same mentally as you. Overall, Red Hook is a great school and the academics challenges there really prepare you for college. I am proud to say I have attended Red Hook Senior High School.
The academic atmosphere is excellent. Small town means a sense of community. IB, program excellent, Bard College has many programs for advanced students . Great pride in band, clubs and sports teams. A safe place to send your child. Friendly teachers and adm. Only downside is new equipment is limited because of small tax base.
Because it was such a small school, RHHS created a community for the students. All students knew one another and we were all friends--everyone especially came together for sporting events. Academically, we are one of the best schools in our area. I was very prepared for college because of all of the work our teachers put into their lessons. Overall, it was a great experience, and a wonderful place to grow up.
Red Hook High School is a beautiful school with great resources and many great and very helpful teachers who love what they do! The small school setting makes all the students connected and gives the opportunity to everyone to make friends and find a group to fit in with. With an auditorium on the way and new administration coming in, Red Hook High School is expanding its horizons and opening the doors to new experiences and opportunities for students and community members alike. The guidance offices in student services have copious resources for students looking to prepare for college and find the perfect one for them. With help always available, Red Hook provides an excellent education to those who apply themselves, especially in the IB Programme, and AP and honors classes available and heavily populated. The community-oriented feel of the school makes it the perfect spot for any student who is searching for a place to fit in.
Red Hook gives many academic opportunities for its students, it allows college level courses such as; Advanced Placement classes, IB classes, and a bus to Boces every day.
On paper Red Hook High School is a fantastic school due to its size, its ib program, the technology, and sports departments. Unfortunately much of the staff aren't fit to teach with the amazing resources provided to them, and the administration is in a constant state of disarray as of late... The school is going through a lot of changes right now. All the same I wouldn't advise to avoid it. Red Hook has educated many competent and successful individuals over the years.
Overall I had a positive experience at Red Hook High School. Most of the teachers were very nice and really tried to help their students succeed.
Red Hook Senior High School has provided me a public education where I was given the opportunity to be myself and express my personality to the fullest while gaining various learning skills.
very clean and open environment, students and teachers are very helpful and understanding. A big leap in my educational carrier. A life changing experience from a low rating school, to a well deserved high rating school.
Great education, but sometimes advanced students and special needs students get all the attention and financial support of the district.
The academics at RHHS are very solid and rewarding too those students lucky enough to have it available to them. The full IB Diploma in particular is a highly rigorous and educational two year process where a student can learn more about the world around them while also learning more about themselves and what they have the potential to achieve with great teachers at your back every step of the way. Coming out of RHHS knowingly aware of all that great opportunities that were offered to me really helps later on in the education process of college
I am currently a freshman at Red Hook High School, and I love it. The social aspect of it is great, the classes have the right amount of kids in them (~24-28 in most of my honors classes), and the teachers do a great job of teaching us and preparing us for standardized tests.
