As far as academics, this school is great. DO NOT ATTEND if you cannot handle hard classes. This school is known for excelling in academic categories. I personally liked the school, and did very well in it. Sports however, are not all that great. Another thing, the school culture here is not that good. Depending what academic program you choose your junior year, people will look at you different. I went full IB, so people automatically think youre super smart and want to go to college. However, if you choose Course Certificate, people will think you don't want to go to college or that you are not smart because you chose not to take the IB exams at the end of the term. But overall, great school. I got into all the colleges I applied for and I am currently enrolled in Howard University, class of 2025!
This is a school fit for high schoolers that take interest and/or have future plans of going to college. All faculty and staff have the passion to contribute to every student's growth and development. The programs offered can be rigorous and therefore will require dedication, but the final outcome financially, mentally and even spiritually will be without a doubt worth it. I would give this school 5 stars on everything, however they do not have the financial capabilities that allow them to reach their full potential. Having to go to different schools for their sports fields to practice on, having to use the school's hallways for others, and having to share and utilize semi-decent equipment for most clubs and activities, does not define the school's willingness and care for its students. But it easily shows the culture, the ingenuity and the dedication that the students will put forth, and in turn reflects the school's ambition and potential to create motivated leaders.
Overall was mediocre. It was hyped up in middle school as the greatest high school in the state, just to find it teaches the same thing with less "fun" classes and an overhaul of work. The workload persists all four years and the whole IB thing never really felt worth it, even now being almost done with it. The high school experience is very academic based which is helpful for college and I think that is my favorite thing about it. Taking the Career Program actually prepares students for college which I appreciate and as a senior believe really helped me in getting through college application processes and such. The school doesn't have much fun going on for it, the athletics are once again, okay. The support system for most teachers was very poor and it always seemed like a chore for most teachers to seek extra help which is rough in a rigorous course like HL Math applications. Seems like a lot of my friends at other schools got a much more free and fun high school experience.
