Reading Memorial High School Reviews
Rating 3.84 out of 5 148 reviews
Reading Memorial High School is a place keen on fostering the creativity and growth of their students. RMHS employs vetted teachers who are able to teach to many different learning styles. Additionally, they utilize an annually reviewed curriculum that is updated with the times and caters to the knowledge student need in order to flourish in the real world. RMHS offers a variety of courses to appeal to all different interests such as politics, fine arts, the sciences, etc. Along with a staff of dedicated and intelligent teachers, Reading Memorial High School offers many ways in which students can receive extra help. Emotionally, a fully staffed guidance department along with a school psychologist are there to provide any support students may need. Academically, teachers are available during free periods, before, and after school along with academic lab times to help students. While there is always room for improvement, RMHS is a wonderful place where students prosper.
There are definitely some good things and some bad things about this school, but overall I have generally had a positive experience here. One of my concerns with the school however is that the guidance department often seems to be trying to limit the classes students can take and make it harder to take high level courses rather than going out of their way to help students get into classes that will challenge them. I’ve had some generally bad teachers, but no particularly horrible experiences. Overall I’ve found success at this school and though there are some issues, it’s still a decent high school.
When I was at RMHS, I had my ups and downs. My favorite part of it was obviously the band program because I am a band kid. Although I wish more money would’ve been put towards the performing arts program, I still appreciate what I got. The worst thing however are the nurses. They don’t understand how to deal with people with disabilities and will usually just dismiss them. I remember one time my friend who has disabilities was about to faint while with the nurses and they just told them that they were fine and to get back to class. Meanwhile, she had a little tracker of her heart rate and it was literally was higher than it should’ve been.
