Overall, I enjoyed attending Braswell. There are many amazing elective programs. Braswell offers a variety of sports, fine art classes, clubs, and classes to help prepare you for future jobs. The teachers are hit or miss. Braswell's curriculum is centered around technology. Currently every student has to option to get a Chromebook. Most of my classes only use online resources. Having everything online makes it easier to keep track of my classes and it makes my backpack pretty light. The building itself is very new and has lots of windows! It's a pretty good environment, but the bathrooms are constantly broken. In the past there has been several school fights a month. Since then, they have increased police presence on school grounds. The dress code is pretty relaxed and students have many freedoms, including dyed hair.
My experience at Braswell High School has overall been a positive one. Being a new-ish school, it’s refreshing to see a school culture that is already established by our alumni. In addition, I believe we have some of the best teachers and directors on this campus! One thing I do wish however is that the administration was more proactive, diligent, and overall communicated more. I feel as though some things get muddied over and brings downs a sense of easiness and comfortability. Furthermore, I wish there were more college preparedness involved. I know other schools have organizations like AVID and had counselors that specifically help students with their college and future endeavors; it’s seems like sometimes counselors’ main concerns revolve around only high school matters, so I hope to see that change!
What I personally like about Braswell, is the opportunities provided. We are a very technology advanced school and with that being said, we are open to alot more things. I like the class selection options, seeing as there is SO many options, and i also like the newness of the school. everything is fresh and A new start. That being said, our school has zero school spirit and basically nobody participates in spirit days. since we are so new, nobody has a genuine love for the school. we are still building that love. another thing im not fond of, is the fact that our school has been on the news for our well known "fight week." the amount of fights at school is outrageous! i also wish our school was a bit smaller because ive been going to school here for 4 years and i still dont know 90 percent of our school. theres no connection. Braswell has a wonderful principle who is always on top of making sure our learning environment is at its finest. shoutout to mr.Hailey!
